Summary: TMail 0.10.9 Released
Project: TMail

This first release since 2004 is to fix an error in the handling of content-type headers where emails from MS Outlook would have their content-type field omitted when doing mail.to_s.

This is now fixed.

Expect more documentation and updates to follow.

You can download 0.10.9 from http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=4512&release_id=15695

Please note however, this is not in sync with the good work done by the Rails core team on the TMail bundled with ActionMailer. The next immediate job will be taking their patches applied to the Rails TMail and merging them into this tree. Then future updates can be done to TMail directly keeping both trees in sync.

This is absolutely on the cards. Right now I am busy merging in all the updates that the Rails team made to their branch of TMail that is inside ActionMailer, they did a lot of work on the conversions.

I have branched this out of trunk to work on it and this is going to take a bit of time to get put together - but I think this is the priority.

Are you interested in helping make the gem? TMail has some compiled extensions in C and RACC which add some complexity, but if you could help that would be great. Please let me know.

Regards

Mikel

Excellent to have this library "back on the market", so to say. Looking forward to using it imminently and submitting patches if needed.

However, it will in practice be very cumbersome to deploy this before it is made into a gem.

For the quick path (~15 min) to gemifying it, please see http://nubyonrails.com/articles/tutorial-publishing-rubygems-with-hoe
