Karl, thank you for the stimulus -- contrary to my post of 8-19, which apparently did not take hold, in order to test the gem installation i asked it to do a --system update again and it re-installed the 0.9.4 gem. As soon as i ran it on long-decimal, your project installed successfully. Thanks again for the help, and now i'll roll up my sleeves and get to work! To me this looks like there is an issue with the unpacking of the gem-archives. Can you try to install other gems, to see if your ruby and/or gem installation is working?
