It appears that you're absolutely correct. Feel free to implement it yourself, if you like. I'm very happy to accept patches. Otherwise I hope to restart work on rflickr this weekend perhaps.
It appears that rflickr doesn't implement the api call flickr.photos.getFavorites. Is that something that will happen soon? Or should I attempt to implement it myself?
