Summary: One-Click Installer is not dead!
Project: Ruby Installer for Windows

While people has been complaining of the lack of updated installers, there are several reasons why:

* RubyInstaller (One-Click) project is migrating from external Ruby binaries to GCC built ones.

This change will turn RubyInstaller self hosted, thus making releases more easy, also due the automation of the complete process.

* RubyInstaller is undergoing a hard diet.

Keep 20MB One-Click is hard, lot of gems and packages bundled in it hasn't been updated in the past years.

This is a blocker for releasing updated Ruby versions, since every package and component needs to be verified.

Also, this affect us too in relation to 1.9, since 1.9 differs a lot from 1.8, and thus, binary gems and packages cannot be shared.

You can follow the progress of the project at my blog:

http://blog.mmediasys.com/

And soon on it's own homepage! (thanks to a design pledgie we are running).

So: One-Click is not dead, just under extreme overhauling.

The complete progress of this project has been done under my free and spare time. Also the same for people that has contributed.

If you want to contribute and help out testing and improving the whole solution, please feel free to join us at rubyinstaller-devel mailing list:

http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/rubyinstaller-devel/

Also, clone or fork the project at GitHub:

http://github.com/oneclick/rubyinstaller/

Don't forget to subscribe to my blog and the mailing list, where I plan to announce progress made.

I hope this information is helpful and shed some light over rumors of premature dead of this project.

Regards.
