Summary: New Flash Rails 0.9
Project: Flash Rails
I actually released these files several days ago, but I wanted to make the homepage more useful before sending out a news item. I encourage you to check it out and especially try out it's RadRails 0.7.2 integration. I have not tried it yet with Aptana RadRails, but if anybody really likes Aptana RadRails then let me know (I don't care for Aptana because it creates a folder in your profile's Application Data folder, defeated the self-contained nature of Flash Rails).
I personally have been using this as my coding environment for the last couple months, since I completed the RadRails integration, and let me tell you it is a HUGE convenience. Just extract RadRails 0.7.2 into the Flash Rails folder and all your RadRails settings and projects go with you and are taken care of by the update_path script.
Also, I've foregone the batch file for updating the paths and now use a "compiled" rubyscript2exe executable called update_path.exe in the Flash Rails root folder.
On the website, I've tried to write up some easy-to-understand usage instructions. I've also written a stripped down version of the "cookbook" tutorial for use with Flash Rails and updated for Rails 2.x. (I'm still deciding how I want to deal with the lack of dynamic scaffolding in Rails 2.x). So the tutorial is not finished with it's Rails 2.x changes but what is there should give you all you need to know about using Flash Rails and RadRails to write ruby programs and rails web applications. |
